Euroa Kindergarten provides programs and opportunities for children to develop and explore their skills and interests through play based learning in a supportive environment.
Euroa offers a 4 year old program and a 3 year old program with two qualified early childhood teachers. Both of these programs offer the full 15 hours of Department of Education and Training (DET) funded kindergarten per week that is available to children within the Strathbogie Shire.
Children are able to express themselves in a positive and inviting centre while gaining social and emotional skills, and developing, growing and reaching their full potential.
Staff work closely with the community, families and children to provide quality care and education.
All children are encouraged to explore and create in a natural and sustainable environment and can enjoy the diverse playground that facilitates age-appropriate challenge, full development of gross motor skills and a wide variety of play-based learning opportunities.
A bush kindergarten program is part of the 4 year old program, enabling children to experience the benefits of nature play.
Children are eligible for the 4 year old program if they are aged 4 – 5 years at April 30 of the kinder year. This is usually the year prior to the child starting school. Children are eligible for the 3 year old program if they are aged 3 – 4 years at April 30 of the kinder year.
Children can only start attending 3 year old kinder once they have turned 3, so a place will be held for children who are still 2 at the beginning of the kinder year. Parents of children born from January to April might want to consider when they want their child to attend school (for example, to be in the older or younger end of the group). If parents have already decided, children born in these months can delay starting kinder so they do 1 year of each program, then move onto school.
Children who start in the 3 year old program will all move into the 4 year old program the following year, then any possible second year of 4 year old kinder will be discussed between teacher and family, subject to meeting DET requirements.
